A certified Monitoring and Evaluation professional by the Kenya Institute of Management as well as Project management professional. Applied Biology Diploma graduate from the Technical University of Kenya. He also has a Diploma in Participatory Community Development from the PREMESE Africa Development Instituted as well as a Bachelor of Art Degree in Human and Social Development with a specialisation in Community Development from the University of South Africa.

Barrack is a competent Goal-orientated project manager with 21 Years’ experience in participatory community development, Monitoring, evaluation, resource mobilisation and climate change programing. In last 5 Years he has been working with Pastoralist Girls Initiative in Garissa and Tana River County as the Deputy Director in charge of Monitoring Evaluation accountability, Learning and resource Mobilisation, He is the sector led for the organisation pillar 4: Natural Resource Management and Climate Change. The strategic goals in the pillar are; Improved sustainable water supply for ASAL communities and Strengthening community resilience and adaptation to climate change through the sustainable and peaceful use of natural resources.

Working with Women groups he has been able working with women group set up climate smart Agricultural project that are building the resilient of pastoral communities by adopting drip irrigation system, adoption of improved dairy goats and bee keeping as alternative livelihood and income generating activities for pastoral and Agro pastoralist communities. The interventions use clean energy powered solar panel in the solarisation of boreholes and shallow wells used to supply water for drip irrigation.

Barracks has worked in 4 different organisations; Adventist Development and Relief Agency – Kenya (ADRA – Kenya), Winrock International, Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team – (AMURT) and Pastoralist Girls Initiative (PGI).
